Using just one long circular needle, you'll learn the Magic Loop method. This is a clever technique that makes knitting small circumferences a breeze. From there, we'll explore the thumb gusset, breaking down exactly what it is, why it matters, and how to knit one so your mittens so those handy-dandy opposable thumbs can do their magic from within your warm mittens. You'll also practice placing stitches on hold, keeping your thumb stitches safe while you finish the hand, then coming back to complete the thumb seamlessly.
Finally, we'll tackle the satisfying but sometimes confusing Kitchener Stitch to close the tip of your mitten with a smooth, invisible join.
By the end of class, you'll walk away with a finished mitten, a second one well on its way, and the confidence to take on more adventurous knitting projects. Come ready to learn, and leave with a cozy heart and a warm pair of mittens!
