With approximately 260 yards per skein and a 13 wraps per inch (wpi) gauge, Entropy DK offers both versatility and durability. BFL wool's long fibers help prevent pilling, so your projects will stay looking fresh, even after repeated wear. The yarn’s natural sheen adds depth and dimension to your work, while its breathable qualities keep your pieces warm yet comfortable.
Named for the “entropy” effect of its hand-dyed colorways, this yarn creates an ever-changing, gradient-like effect as you knit. Each skein is a beautiful mix of colors that subtly gradate and shift in smooth transitions giving your projects have that gorgeous hand-spun look.
The hardy sheep that bring us this remarkable wool roam freely on the grassland of the Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of over 4000 mt. Through their work, mYak aims is to give this thousands-of-years-old nomadic lifestyle an opportunity to thrive and prosper in uncertain modern times.
Out of deep respect for animal welfare, nomads shear the sheep by hand in the traditional way that has been used for centuries – collecting the fiber following the natural life rhythms of the animals and the people who raise them. Tibetan sheep are a very strong breed that have adapted to the rough environmental conditions of the Himalayan plateau.
The herd that produces fiber for mYak Tibetan Cloud comes from a poorer area of Tibet, intentionally chosen to bring a better income to these communities. mYak aims to give this thousand of years old nomadic lifestyle an opportunity to thrive and prosper in uncertain modern times. The fiber is spun and dyed in Biella, at the foothills of the Italian Alps, the cradle of most ancient and prestigious Italian textile excellence.
With the aim to support small wool producers, Mota was developed as a collaboration with several ranching families, each contributing the finest wool their flocks had to offer in order to produce this very special yarn.
Mota is a collection made entirely in the heart of Castile-La Mancha, and is named to honor the town of Mota del Cuervo, where WoolDreamers has it's roots. Thanks to the proximity of the farms to the mill, Mota is produced with one of the smallest carbon footprints on the market.
Spun from carefully selected fleeces from each ranch, Mota shows that even the smallest ranches can produce valuable wools. The resulting yarn is a soft and lofty 3-ply DK that will give each project a special connection to the origins of their materials. Offered in a wide variety of colors and shades, Mota lets your imagination run free!
Owner and primary dyer, Jean, doesn't hold back on playing around with colors. Her unique colorways range from tonal neons, earthy variegated, and thrilling speckles! And in a nod to the rockers of the 80s and 90s, they are named after her favorite songs. It's a Gen X trip down Memory Lane!
Juni + Si, pronounced Ju-Knee and Sigh, is named after the owner's grandchildren Juniper and Silas. Dyed out of Snoqualmie, Washington, Jean wants to acknowledge and honor the native people who have heavily contributed to the art of dyeing.
As with all hand-dyed yarns, Juni + Si are dyed in small lots. Color, tonality and speckle amounts may vary from skein to skein, lot to lot and monitor to monitor.
Manchelopis is a love song to Spain's most ubiquitous dairy-producing sheep - the Manchega Sheep. If you've been lucky enough to savor a slice of Manchego cheese, you've meet the Manchega Sheep. With Manchelopis, WoolDreamers honors the value of the fiber of Manchega sheep, a breed native to the Castilla-La Mancha region where WoolDreamers makes its home.
Manchelopis is blended from the wool of two unique flocks being raised using traditional ranching practices and with compassion for the sheep and the lands they graze on. With one flock produces dark brown wool and the other white. Manchelopis began with a range of colors in a light to dark gradient by simply blending the two wools together.
The white wool comes from Las Banderas Livestock, situated in la Serrania de Cuenca. The flock of Manchega sheep is looked after by Raul who practices transhumance, taking the sheep from pasture to pasture with the seasons.
The dark brown wool comes from a flock of rare black Manchega Sheep raised by Jose de Jesus Gimenez Diezma Ranch. The sheep graze freely on the lands of Los Montes de Toledo and only seek shelter when they require Jose’s care.
Manchelopis is now offered in a palette of dyed colors as well as the original undyed, blended neutral.
Manchelopis comes in a 100g “wheel.” The unspun 2-ply structure of this yarn allows for it to be worked at a variety of gauges depending on the desired fabric.
Sol DK adapts seamlessly to seasonal changes but still appeals to those who like the feel of wool. Superwash merino offers warmth and resilience, while the pima cotton adds breathability and a subtle matte sheen. This results in a beautifully balanced DK-weight yarn that drapes like a dream, feels gentle against the skin, and holds up to both wear and gentle machine washing. Whether you're knitting lace, texture, or stockinette, Sol DK showcases your stitches with clarity and elegance.
Cormo sheep are born from a thoughtful cross between Corriedale and Merino. This fleece is a springy wool that’s next-to-skin soft but still full of body and structure. Tumalo Fiber's Caldera DK showcases this beautifully, with a smooth hand and a gentle elasticity that makes it a joy to work with. The balance between ply and natural bounce give stitches excellent clarity, making cables and lace pop just as well as simple stockinette. Caldera DK boasts the versatility and tactile pleasure that makes a yarn truly unforgettable.
The fiber for Ghost Town DK comes from Shaniko Wool Co. Merino/Rambouillet cross sheep. These sheep are raised by family-owned ranches in the Great Basin region of the American West.
Led by champion of the American wool industry, Jeanne Carver, Shaniko Wool Co. is a truly sustainable wool. In 2018, Jeanne and Dan Carver's family ranch – Imperial Stock Ranch located near Shaniko, Oregon – became the first ranch in the world to be Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified. RWS-certification ensures that the people, land, and animals associated with production of this yarn and fiber are all treated fairly and ethically.
Shaniko Wool Co. is building on the Carver family's commitment to regenerative farming practices which promote healthy ecosystems and preserve biodiversity for current generations, and those to come. Now a farm group of 10 ranches over 4 states, Shaniko Wool Co. is also NATIVA Regen certified – the first third-party certified, regenerative wool program in the U.S. With a double NATIVA + RWS certification, Shaniko Wool Co. fiber is 100% transparent and traceable from sheep to skein, raising the bar for sustainable wool sourcing in the United States.
**Because each skein is hand-dyed, some color loss may occur with initial washings.
