Whisperlike's construction offers JUST ENOUGH interest to keep you on your toes while working the sweet lace panels on the shoulder, then it's smooth sailing from there. Long torsoed knitters rejoice! Unlike many patterns we see these days, this one isn't cropped!
We also chose Whisperlike with heart: after the challenge of our recent Vanilla Affogato KAL, we wanted something a little more approachable, relaxing, and confidence-boosting. If you registered for the Vanilla Affogato KAL, invested in gorgeous mYak Tibetan Cloud, and felt discouraged or set it aside, please know this one’s on us – registration is free for you as our way of saying thank you for sticking with us. Please just give us a call or email to let us know you're coming and we'll save you a seat. We recognize that we could have done better. Let’s knit this one together, with ease and joy. Bring your abandoned Tibetan Cloud - the quantity required for Whisperlike should be very similar – no need to buy more yarn. We'd love to cast on with you again… with the humble recognition that knitting is a journey, not a destination.

FAQs
What's a Knitalong (or Crochetalong, or Makealong)?
A knitalong (KAL), Crochetalong (CAL) or Makealong (MAL) is a social event designed to bring the maker community together around a specific pattern or yarn – or sometimes both. Enjoy connecting with others while knitting or crocheting the same garment or working with a particular yarn together. This is a fantastic time to gather together with others in our fiber arts community, enjoy camaraderie, and get a little guidance and project support along the way.
What ISN'T a Knitalong/Crochetalong/Makealong?
A KAL/CAL/MAL is not a class. You should be reasonably familiar with the techniques required to work through the project at hand. However, help is never far away! If you ever find yourself in need of extended project support, drop in to one of our Help Sessions, offered weekly on Wednesdays & Saturdays from 1-3pm.
Andrea Mowry’s Weekender sweaters have become true knitting legends—beloved for their effortless style, cozy fit, and just-one-more-row magic. Now it’s your turn to cast on! Join us for Weekender Sundays, a knitalong at Fancywork Yarn Shop where you can choose from any of the three Weekender designs and knit alongside fellow fans.
Whether you’re swooning over the classic pullover, tempted by the lightweight version, or ready for the pocketed crew-neck, this is the perfect excuse to finally make that sweater. Gather with Kecia and Maricela for three Sundays this fall to stitch, laugh, and bring your Weekender to life—you’ll be wearing yours before you know it!
What will you knit your Weekender in? Here are some of our favorite suggestions:
The Weekender: This worsted-weight classic was originally designed in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, which, sadly, is no longer. mYak Baby Yak Medium, Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino, Fiber MacGyver Merino Alpaca, or Amano Yarns Riti would all make lovely substitutes.
The Weekender Light: This is a fingering-weight version of the OG Weekender. We're thinking about Knitting for Olive Merino, or mYak Fior di Lino. Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift would also fit the bill nicely.
The Weekender Crew: Last but not least, the crew-neck version – with pockets – makes a great project for a DK-weight Weekender. Consider Wooldreamers Mota, Caldera DK (check our stock in-store), Malabrigo Verano for a cotton version, or mYak Tibetan Cloud.
Those of you who attended our Purls of Wisdom lecture "Knitting Off Gauge with Intention" this summer have even more options! As always, we're here to help you with your yarn choice 7 days a week.
THE SCHEDULE:

Join our all-star knitting instructor, Dedra, as she walks you through every detail of making your very own sweater. At the end of this class, you'll have a very cute, very sporty pullover that you'll proudly wear everywhere! Class meets five times over the course of seven weeks to knit Varsity Sweater by Lamb & Kid Designs.

Class 3: Getting to the meat of it. This week we'll tackle the sleeves and body of the sweater. Once your sleeve stitches are secured, cables are adjusted and a few rows are under your belt, it's smooth sailing from here! We'll send you off on a two-week break to knit, knit, knit on your own with the goal of coming back with a completed, bound off sweater body.
Class 4: School's back in session! We'll gather together again and jump in on those sleeves, learning how to shape them, along with strategies for making them the perfect length.
Class 5: Graduation Day! We will finish our sweaters strong and celebrate the big win! We'll talk about finishing techniques and how to care for your handmade heirloom.
