Our Team at Fancywork Yarn Shop

A small business does not exist without the recognized time and efforts of everyone on the team. Our Fancywork family is so eternally grateful to have served Bend, Oregon for 8 years. We not only have a love for fiber arts, but each other and the community.

Learn more about each of us here or stop by the shop and start up a conversation, hope to see you soon!

Meet the Proprietor

Elise Jones

Venturing out from her hometown in the north suburbs of Chicago, Elise jumped from college in southern Indiana to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado before eventually finding her home in beautiful Bend, Oregon in the early 2000s.

A knitter from an early age, Elise's professional background lies in marketing and design. After a career helping others grow their own small businesses, Elise decided it was time to put her skills to use building her own community-focused yarn shop. Fancywork was born in 2018 in it's current location in Bend's Central District.

When she isn't juggling small business ownership or casting on a new project, you can find Elise spending time with her husband, two kids, and little pup in the mountains.

Sales Associate

Abby

@abbymachine

A seasoned crocheter and a self-taught knitter, Abby is currently working on the Blomstra Hat by Kajsa Vuorela Fredriksson. Although her favorite finished work is a crocheted amigurumi mushroom guy! Originally from Olympia, Washington, Abby has lived in Bend for the past 6 years and wholeheartedly says Fancywork is her favorite place to craft! Abby would love to go on a crafting retreat to Iceland under the midnight sun. An adventurous spirit at heart, Abby not only enjoys crafting but also skiing and dancing at music festivals. One day, she'll learn how to drift a car!

Events Manager | Teacher

Dedra

(DEE-dra)

Born and raised in beautiful Bend, Dedra has been knitting since she was 7 years old and is Fancywork's lead knitting instructor and Events Manager. You can find her at the community table most days, helping customers get unstuck or teaching beginning knitters all of her tricks! When not talking about knitting or yarn, Dedra can be found listening to musical artists like Huntrix, Panic at the Disco, or Rise Against. She's currently working on multiple projects but if you see her knitting in the shop perhaps it's the Jaunty by Andrea Mowry or the Norma Sweater by My Favorite Things.

Sales Associate | Social Media Manager

Emily

Not super picky when it comes to going on vacation, Emily would love to knit somewhere quiet, cozy, and beautiful (perhaps there's hiking or a river to knit by!) Having learned how to knit as a child, then relearning as an adult around 7 years ago, Emily is currently working on her many unfinished WIPs. Although, her favorite finished knitting patterns would have to be any of the Westknits Make-A-Longs she has taken part of! Inspired by the last TV show Emily watched with her family The Great British Bake Off, don't be afraid to ask if she's willing to share her yummy baked pasta recipe.

Marketing Specialist | Website Manager

Ilana

@eyelalanuh

Working behind the scenes, Ilana helps Fancywork with their newsletters and the website you're reading this on! Originally from California and currently studying to obtain a MA in Arts and Design Education from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, she hopes to become a teacher of all creative things. An irrational fear of hers would be if somebody broke into her house and stole her 1980s Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel! But on a more happy note, when not found crafting Ilana enjoys singing in the car or scaling the face of a mountain.

Sales Associate | Teacher

Kecia

Not only a Fancywork employee, Kecia has been the Executive Director of Camp Fire Central Oregon since 2013! She has a Masters degree in International and Intercultural Management with an emphasis in Training and Human Resource Development. A creative at heart, she spent 10 years in the photography industry working alongside her brother to grow his business from three people in the garage to a 25-employee multi-million dollar company. With a love for mystery, ask Kecia what her favorite Mystery Knit-A-Long has been! She's currently working on Stephen West's Mystery MusiKAL.

Sales Associate

Maricela

Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Maricela learned how to knit from the nuns at her Catholic School. She raised her two children in Bend over the past 19 years and envisions moving somewhere with year round warmer temps next! When Maricela isn't at the shop she's likely playing tennis or knitting on the couch next to her puppy Rafa. Maricela loves listening to musical artists like Vicente García and Bad Buddy, and she would love to learn to play guitar one day as well! Not one for picking favorites, Maricela says everything she has successfully cast off is her favorite pattern. She is currently knitting Alpine Bloom by Caitlin Hunter.

Sales Associate

Tyndal

@tyndalhashobbies

Guided by her grandmother, Tyndal learned how to knit at the tender age of just 5 years old. These days, she is not only is she a rad knitter but a knitwear designer as well! In February 2026 her design, the Franklin Sweater was released, born out of respect for women in STEM and as a love letter to Rosalind Franklin. A master of many talents, Tyndal also crochets, paints, and is currently learning to spin. Using mistakes as an opportunity to learn, Tyndal is a bright and positive light in the shop.
