Color Play: The Art of Intarsia

Intarsia allows you to work with bold blocks of color without carrying yarn across the back, making it ideal for the modern, geometric designs featured in the Santa Fe Cardigan.

Throughout the class, you'll gain confidence in managing multiple strands, reading intarsia charts, working top-down inset pockets, and finishing your garment with professional polish. This class is the perfect opportunity to expand your knitting skills and create a one-of-a-kind, statement cardigan for your wardrobe. 

Homework: Before the first class meets, please swatch and have met gauge according to the pattern. 

Materials (not included): Yarn: MC: 822-1644 yards, depending on garment size, of Malabrigo Chunky or equivalent chunky/bulky weight yarn; CC1 (yellow), 4 yards;  CC2 (orange), 8 yards; CC3 (light brown), 40 yards; CC4 (green), 14 yards; CC5 (lavendar), 16 yards; CC6 (blue), 31 yards; CC7 (dark brown), 41 yards. Kits for CC sections are available for purchase. Materials for all Fancywork classes must be purchased at our shop. Needles: Size US 10-12/2, or size required to meet gauge. Basic knitting notions such as stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors. Pattern: Santa Fe Cardigan by Alexandra Tavel, available at Fancywork 

Prerequisite skills: Knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, and swatching to meet gauge. We strongly recommend that you have already knit at least one sweater to gauge (of any size) before taking this class.
