Olga's Jacket Knitalong

While summer knitting is so often about simple, breezy stitches, sometimes our hands crave a project we can truly sink our needles into—a deeply rewarding knit that asks for a little more focus and results in a stunning heirloom. Olga’s Jacket is exactly that kind of project.

We are thrilled to announce that Fancywork is participating in a global Knit-along (KAL) led by designer Olga Putano in collaboration with mYak. Knit in phenomenally soft and squishy Tibetan Cloud Wool, this jacket is an invitation to stretch your skills, embrace an ambitious colorwork journey, and create an extraordinary garment, finishing just in time for the crisp days of autumn.

Join mYak's Ravelry group, where co-founder Paola Vanzo and designer Olga Putano will be popping in. There you'll find timelines and loads of support. We’ll also be joining knitters and shopkeepers from around the world for three exclusive Zoom sessions hosted by Paola and Olga. During the virtual chats we'll discuss color choices and styling, get guidance on jacket construction and techniques, explore Olga's other amazing deisgns, learn all about the incredible story behind mYak yarns and their work with Tibetan nomads, and share our progress with knitters all over the world.

But we also want to bring that magic right here home! Fancywork will host three in-shop KAL gatherings in conjunction with those Zoom events so our local makers can stitch, troubleshoot, and cheer each other on in person. Join us in the shop before, during, and after the zoom sessions for in-person knitting and joyous community crafting! Elise is already diving in— she's picked out a vibrantly bright color combination of Tibetan Cloud for her jacket and swatching is underway! We have so many stunning palettes waiting for you on the shelves, with even more colors arriving soon.
