The fiber for Ghost Town Fingering comes from Shaniko Wool Co. Merino/Rambouillet cross sheep. These sheep are raised by family-owned ranches in the Great Basin region of the American West.
Led by champion of the American wool industry, Jeanne Carver, Shaniko Wool Co. is a truly sustainable wool. In 2018, Jeanne and Dan Carver's family ranch – Imperial Stock Ranch located near Shaniko, Oregon – became the first ranch in the world to be RWS certified. RWS-certification ensures that the people, land, and animals associated with production of this yarn and fiber are all treated fairly and ethically.
Shaniko Wool Co. is building on the Carver family's commitment to regenerative farming practices which promote healthy ecosystems and preserve biodiversity for current generations, and those to come. Now a farm group of 10 ranches over 4 states, Shaniko Wool Co. is also NATIVA Regen certified - the first third-party certified, regenerative wool program in the U.S. With a double NATIVA + RWS certification, Shaniko Wool Co. fiber is 100% transparent and traceable from sheep to skein, raising the bar for sustainable wool sourcing in the United States.

Each strand of Swanky Floof is impossibly airy, yet rich with warmth, making it perfect for gossamer shawls, dreamy layering pieces, or for adding just a hint of fluff to your favorite knits and crochets. The silk content lends a luminous sheen and strength, while the alpaca and cashmere wrap you in gentle luxury.
A wonderful alternative for patterns that call for mohair or brushed suri lace weight yarn. Whether Swanky Floof is used on its own or paired with other yarns for added texture and depth, this yarn elevates every stitch. Soft, fluffy, and delightfully indulgent – beware: this is yarn will spoil you!
Cormo sheep are born from a thoughtful cross between Corriedale and Merino. This fleece is a springy wool that’s next-to-skin soft but still full of body and structure. Tumalo Fiber's Caldera DK showcases this beautifully, with a smooth hand and a gentle elasticity that makes it a joy to work with. The balance between ply and natural bounce give stitches excellent clarity, making cables and lace pop just as well as simple stockinette. Caldera DK boasts the versatility and tactile pleasure that makes a yarn truly unforgettable.
Sol DK adapts seamlessly to seasonal changes but still appeals to those who like the feel of wool. Superwash merino offers warmth and resilience, while the pima cotton adds breathability and a subtle matte sheen. This results in a beautifully balanced DK-weight yarn that drapes like a dream, feels gentle against the skin, and holds up to both wear and gentle machine washing. Whether you're knitting lace, texture, or stockinette, Sol DK showcases your stitches with clarity and elegance.
Tumalo Fiber's Caldera Fingering is a hardy skein spun from 100% Cormo wool. The 2-ply configuration creates a prominent stitch definition when worked up. This yarn is as bouncy and robust as it is irresistibly soft, crafted for makers who want crisp stitch definition.
The Cormo sheep, originally bred in Tasmania in the 1960s by crossing Corriedale and superfine Merino, bring together the best of both breeds: the resilience and loft of Corriedale, and the buttery softness of Merino. The result is a wool that’s springy, elastic, and next-to-skin soft – with a fine micron count that rivals luxury fibers.
