Vintersol Stranded Colorwork KAL with Blue Sky Fibers!
It may be hot out now, but Vinter is coming. Are you ready? Vintersol (“winter sunshine“) is a stranded colorwork yoke pullover inspired by a walk in a frosty, wintery meadow. Join us for a fun knit along to learn new knitting techniques, meet new friends and add what’s sure to be an heirloom sweater to your collection! We’ll be knitting ours with Blue Sky Fibers’ super soft and squishy Woolstok yarn. We’ve got all 21 colors available and we’d to help you put colors together for what’s sure to be a spectacular project.
This sweater is a top down hybrid. It starts with a provisional cast on with waste yarn using a simple long tail cast on. No additional skills are needed for this method (called COWYAK). Several rounds are worked with the waste yarn and then the main color is joined. The stranded yoke is worked and the neckline is finished. A lifeline is inserted, the waste yarn is removed, revealing live stitches, and then the body and sleeves are worked from the provisional cast on edge. You can try it on as you go: the yoke, body, and sleeve lengths are all adjustable, as well as the neckline circumference, if desired. This sweater is worked seamlessly and in the round – and with friends to help you along the way.
The Vintersol KAL will kick off on Mondays, September 24 from 1-3pm when we’ll discuss the pattern and cast on together. Join us as often as you can for the next 7 weeks – bonus points for perfect attendance –until we celebrate our FOs on November 12th, just in time for all the holiday parties! As usual, we’ll have project support, encouragement, friendship, merriment, prizes, and a Finished Object Fashion Show!
Fancywork KALs are free to participate in, but we ask that you kindly buy the yarn at our shop. We are happy to offer a 10% discount on all KAL purchases.
