The New Year brings with it the opportunity to refocus our efforts back toward skill-building, gathering with community, and indulging in fibery self-care. Join us for our Winter knitalong featuring Rockcress, designed by Norah Gaughan for Brooklyn Tweed’s Fall 19 collection. The simple shape and timeless construction of the Rockcress sweater create a perfect canvas for all-over cables, which come alive with the woolen-spun texture and color depth of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. Rockcress is knit from the bottom up in flat pieces, which are then sewn together. (Don’t fret – we’ll have a class on finishing techniques including seaming before the end of the KAL so you can brush up!) The collar is picked up from the neckband and worked circularly. The stitch motif, comprised of braided cables, is worked from a chart and is oh, so fun to knit thanks to simple variation in the easy-to-memorize pattern.

We’ll gather for the KAL launch and cast-on party on Saturday, January 11. At the mid-way point – February 8th, we’ll meet again for a progress check. And we’ll celebrate our finished objects and great successes with merriment and prizes at the wrap party on March 7th. Feel free to come, sit, and knit in the shop anytime in between. The KAL is free to participate in. If you need project help, our $10 sessions are Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11AM to 1PM.
