It’s tee time! Handknit summer tees, that is! Join us for a 4-week-long Zoom KAL as we whip up our own versions of Jacqueline Cieslak’s Rift tee. Why only four weeks? Because this project knits up in the blink of an eye. And with so many design variations to choose from – short sleeve or long, v-neck or boat, cropped or not – plus a plethora of yarns to knit it with, your Rift is sure to be unique. Express yourself!
The Pattern: Rift cracks open all your assumptions about what a “basic tee” pattern should be. This lightweight, bottom-up knit includes instructions for two necklines, optional bust darts, short or long sleeves, and a custom fit bicep. The design features a slightly cropped body and a split high-low hem in twisted rib, giving it enough detailing to be interesting while maintaining a timeless simplicity.
The Yarns: Your KAL host, Claire, is knitting Rift with Recollect, a rustic, hand-dyed 100% Rambouillet from one of our fav indie-dyers, The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers. Elise is casting on with Malabrigo Susurro, an dreamy combo of mulberry silk, linen, and merino wool. Maybe your Rift wants to be a cool cotton? Check out Sami from Amano Yarns 100% Organic Peruvian Cotton. Or, for a more textured tee, knit your Rift in Hand Painted Cotton from Three Pines Studio.
The Rift KAL meets every Thursday from 6-7pm, May 6th-27th.
