Fidra is a quick and interesting one-size hat knit in bulky-weight yarn. Learn a new cast on (alternating long-tail and German twisted), how to read a knitting chart and, as a bonus, how to make the best pompoms. The first session will cover casting on and reading the chart, while the second will cover finishing and making a pompom. If you’re interested in joining the Autumn quarter knitalong for the Diamond Lake pullover (ask in the shop!) but aren’t comfortable reading charts, this is the class for you!

Materials:

  • Yarn: 2 skeins Malabrigo Chunky or 1 skein Brooklyn Tweed Quarry
  • Needles: US 9 16-inch circular, US 10 16-inch circular and double-points. NOTE: If you are familiar with magic loop knitting you can use US 9 and 10 32-inch circulars (or interchangeables with a 32-inch cord). The instructor will NOT teach the magic loop method as part of this class.
  • Pattern: Fidra, by Gudrun Johnston, available in the shop via Ravelry In-Store Sales.
  • Misc.: stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors or other cutting tool, pompom maker (optional)

Pre-Requisite Skills: Knitting in the round

Instructor: Jen Albert

A friendly note about parking: In consideration of our good neighbors, we ask that, if you are able, please park on the surrounding streets if you plan to be in the shop for an extended period of time. We appreciate your consideration.
