Time: Mondays, September 30 & October 7 from 1-3 pm both days
Explore Estonian culture. Create roositud mittens made with the Estonian technique of roosimine. This fascinating technique is created with inlaid colors placed as the mitten is knit. Other techniques to indulge in include the Channel Island cast on and how to knit mittens. Instructor Kris Redmond will discuss the people and traditions of Estonia and share photos and stories from her trip there.
- Heavy Fingering weight yarn: 2 skeins for the main color, 1 skein for the contrast color and an optional small amount of a third color for the center of the motif. Fancywork’s sample is knit in Brooklyn Tweed Loft, colors Postcard and Plume. Gauge: 25 sts & 32 rows per 4 inches
- Needles: US 4 (or size needed to achieve gauge), double points or longer circular needle for magic loop.
