Laurelie is a triangular shawl that begins with a simple garter stitch section, moves into graphic mosaic knitting, and then gracefully transitions into a beautiful lace pattern that echoes the diamond mosaic motif just before it. Mosaic knitting, for the uninitiated, is a simple and engaging colorwork technique using only slipped stitches and one color at a time. Instructions for the pattern are both written and charted. Follow whichever you prefer.

With just two colors of fingering weight yarn, the interplay of color and texture, and the camaraderie of friends during this winter knitalong, this is a low-stress way to kick off the new year of knitting.

We’ll gather for the KAL launch and cast-on party on Monday, January 27. At the mid-way point – February 10th, we’ll meet again for a progress check. And we’ll celebrate our finished objects and great successes with merriment and prizes at the wrap party on February 24th. Feel free to come, sit, and knit in the shop anytime in between. The KAL is free to participate in. If you need project help, our $10 sessions are Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11AM to 1PM.
