Date: Thursday, March 12, from 1 to 2 pm
Are you a knitter who does everything possible to avoid touching a crochet hook? Fear not! In this class, we will cover some basic crochet techniques that can be useful for dedicated knitters. You will learn to hold the yarn and hook, make a chain stitch, crochet a provisional cast on, crochet a surface slip stitch (useful for steeking), crochet a simple border around a knitted fabric, and other useful crochet techniques which can help take your knitting to the next level.
- Size G or H crochet hook
- One skein worsted weight yarn
- US 8 knitting needle (for provisional cast-on)
- a swatch of worsted weight stockinette fabric (for surface slip stitching and crochet border)
- Other supplies: scissors, needle gauge, locking stitch markers.
Prerequisite skills: You should be comfortable with basic knitting skills: casting on, knit and purl, binding off. We will not be covering any knitting techniques in class.
