Bend Central District First Friday | October 1, 5-9pm
The BCD continues to grow in wonderful ways and we are thrilled to be a part of the evolution of Bend’s next hotspot. Join Fancywork and 10 other amazing neighborhood businesses for First Friday in Bend Central District!
Our featured artist for October is long-time knitter, fellow BYOB yarn-bomber and one-time Bend local, Robin Laughlin. Currently based in Portland, Robin’s work is inspired by the varied landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and the Great Basin.
“My abstracted landscape paintings express the echos and emotions that fill me when I witness ancient trees, wild waters, and the wind in tall grass. I have been focused on works in acrylics recently, enjoying the immediacy of the medium and the opportunity to put down layer after layer as a way reflect the many layers in the natural world.”
“My first paintings were in crayon on the walls of my parents home in Texas. Since then, I have worked in pencil, pastels, oil, water color, and acrylics. I am a landscape architect with a degree from WSU and have taken workshops and art classes over the years from generous artists including Brenda Boylan, Cat Tesla, Jodi Ohl and more.”
If you’ve ever been to a park in Bend, chances are good you’ve enjoyed the fruits of Robin’s labor. And if you’ve seen a knitted bike parked somewhere around our shop before, she may or may not have had a hand in that as well. We’ll never tell. 😉
Stroll the shops and food carts along the walkable stretch from NE Second/Third Streets and Greenwood to NE Lafayette Street. We’ll be keeping the shop open until 9pm for evening shopping, complementary beverages and beautiful art,
