Note: This is three-session class.

Time: Tuesdays, October 29, November 5 & 12 from 5-7 pm all three days
Cost: $75
Level: Advanced Beginner

The Umpqua Hat is a perfect first project for stranded colorwork. Using no more than two colors at one time, this unisex hat offers three different sizes for the perfect fit. Pick three different colors – one each of a light, medium, and dark – in worsted weight yarn and get ready to cast on! We’ll cover color dominance, tension, floats, and basic chart reading.

  • Yarn: 1 skein each Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in 3 colors (one light, one medium, and one dark), or two skeins of Woolstok in main color and one skein each in two contrasting colors.
  • Needles: 16″ circulars in US 5 and 7, DPNs in US 7. NOTE: If you are familiar with magic loop knitting you can use US 5 and 7 32-inch circulars (or interchangeables with a 32-inch cord). The instructor will NOT teach the magic loop method as part of this class.
  • Pattern: Umpqua Hat, by Caitlin Hunter, available in the shop via Ravelry In-Store Sales.
  • Misc.: pompom maker, tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors, highlighter tape, and a pencil

Pre-Requisite Skills: Knitting in the round

Instructor: Jen Albert

A friendly note about parking: In consideration of our good neighbors, we ask that, if you are able, please park on the surrounding streets if you plan to be in the shop for an extended period of time. We appreciate your consideration.
